Wenzel im Trio
Songs & Poems
In the gray hours of the morning, between doubt and fatigue, the songs find their final form.
The world is out of joint. At the fractured points of our hope, melodies and words search for the right place. Songs, carried by the gentle yet resolute tones of guitars, bass, accordion, and piano, invite us to dance during the unrepeatable hours of live concerts. GLAD TO BE ALIVE.
A clinging to elemental truths, despite all ideological fragmentation. Celebrating life as a victory against the destructive, against war and demagoguery. Music remains a faithful companion in this.
Wenzel stays true to himself, caring neither for labels nor fashionable poses. His work draws from an almost inexhaustible source. In recent years, Wenzel has surprised with many CD productions—
new, previously unreleased songs, musical settings of texts by Johannes R. Becher, Christoph Hein, Theodor Kramer, Woody Guthrie.
Melancholic, wild at heart, subversive, warm-hearted, cynical, delicate, and direct. Still, Wenzel remains a refugee from the impositions of the world. With bittersweet irony, he defies the stormy seas. A lover who never loved halfway, never played softly with his jester’s bells—a man who gives and takes with full ladles. A sage on whose ark the eternal pairs embrace: joy and rage, love and time, escape and shelter, moment and epoch. First and last day.
